A stabilizer or anti-torsion arm, as it is also known, is an element designed to secure a tower at a specific height to prevent movement caused by strong wind currents.
Unlike a guy bracket (which attaches at one point per side of the tower), a stabilizer attaches at two points per side; that is, there are 6 attachment points at the same height, which prevents excessive torsion in the tower and provides better structural rigidity.
Installation conditions
A stabilizer is not a mandatory part for assembling a typical tower. It is generally installed when:
- There is an antenna with a large surface area (equal to or greater than 1m in diameter).
- When there are wind concentrations due to the terrain or local conditions.
- For high-precision wireless links.
Likewise, it is recommended to replace the installation of a guy bracket when adding a stabilizer, as we must remember that the more cables we add to the tower, the heavier it will be and the more load we will be placing on the ground.
