When the surge is of greater intensity than that indicated in the technical data sheet and has sufficient heat and accumulated voltage, the suppressor will open a hole of approximately one inch in the bottom of the canister and expel hot silicon and pieces of plastic, performing its maximum blocking function and protecting the circuit.
