Always On Video

Record always. Not just when detected.

Conventional solar cameras only record upon motion detection. A slow intruder or someone outside the PIR sensor's angle passes by without a trace. AOV maintains continuous recording with ultra-low consumption, leveraging the 9,000 mAh battery and solar panel so evidence is never missed.

  • 24/7 recording without relying on PIR sensors
  • Consumption optimized for battery and solar panel
  • Continuous evidence, not fragmented by events

Total coverage

340 degrees of vision. Transmitted via 4G.

The PT motor covers 340° in pan and 80° in tilt. A single camera covers what previously required several fixed ones. The 4G LTE connection with a Nano SIM card transmits real-time video to Hik-Connect, without relying on WiFi or network cabling. From the palm of your hand, you move the camera wherever you need to see.

Intelligent lighting

Two light sources. One automatic decision.

EXIR IR for invisible night vision up to 30 meters. White light for active deterrence and color capture in the dark. The camera decides which to use based on the scene. The 1/3' CMOS sensor with 0.005 lux minimum sensitivity and 2.8 mm lens (98.5°) captures details the human eye cannot see.

Battery and solar energy

How long does the battery actually last?

The 9,000 mAh lithium battery provides up to 7 days of normal operation on a full charge. But not every day is the same: panel charging depends on sun intensity, orientation, and weather conditions. Here we explain what to expect in each scenario.

Solar panel efficiency by hour

The 8W panel does not generate the same energy at 7 AM as it does at noon. Direct solar radiation (when the sun is high and perpendicular to the panel) is up to 3 times more intense than in the early morning or at dusk.

Time Efficiency Approx. Charge Detail
7:00 – 9:00 ~30% ~2.4W Low sun, oblique angle on panel
9:00 – 11:00 ~65% ~5.2W Rising sun, more direct radiation
11:00 – 15:00 ~100% ~8W Solar peak: maximum radiation and optimal charge
15:00 – 17:00 ~60% ~4.8W Setting sun, angle starts to be oblique
17:00 – 19:00 ~25% ~2W Dusk, minimal radiation

*Percentage relative to the nominal power of the panel (8W). Values estimated with clear skies and panel facing south (northern hemisphere). Real-world charge varies by latitude, season, and atmospheric conditions.

Battery life without sun

When there is no sun (nights, cloudy days, rainy season), the camera operates exclusively on the battery. Life depends on the activity level:

Scenario Battery life Includes
Normal use ~7 days 50 alarms/day (30s each) + 10 min live video + 10 PT movements
Light use ~10-12 days 20 alarms/day + 5 min live video, low activity zone
Heavy use ~3-4 days 100+ alarms/day + 30 min live video + frequent PT and white light use
Standby only ~15+ days No alarms or live video, only 4G network signaling

Cloudy days and rainy season

A completely cloudy day reduces panel charging to 10-25% of its nominal capacity. This means that on a cloudy day, the panel generates between 0.8W and 2W instead of 8W. In these conditions:

1 cloudy day
Battery barely discharges. Panel partially compensates for consumption.
3 cloudy days
Battery drops to 50-60%. Enough to continue operating normally.
5+ cloudy days
Battery drops to 15% and enters standby mode: live video only, no alarms.

Automatic standby mode

When the battery drops below 15%, the camera automatically enters standby mode to protect evidence and extend operation. In this mode:

  • Only live viewing is allowed (no recording by alarm)
  • PT and white light are deactivated to save energy
  • The camera remains connected to the 4G network and accessible via Hik-Connect
  • When the panel recharges above 15%, normal operation resumes

Installation recommendations

  • Face the panel toward the south (northern hemisphere) with a 30-45° tilt to maximize direct sunlight hours
  • Avoid shadows from trees, poles, or structures between 10 AM and 3 PM, which are the peak load hours
  • Clean the panel periodically: dust, leaves, and bird droppings reduce efficiency by up to 30%
  • In areas with prolonged rainy seasons, consider an additional panel or a location with greater sun exposure

Data plan

How long does a data plan last?

Consumption depends on how many alarms are triggered, how much you watch live, and if you use AOV. These numbers help you choose the right plan for your installation.

Consumption by activity

Activity Consumption Reference
Standby mode ~10 MB/day Network signaling, no recording
Alarm (30 sec) ~25 MB 4 MP recording with H.265
Live HD video ~600 MB/hour High-resolution remote viewing
Live SD video ~250 MB/hour Standard-definition remote viewing
Continuous AOV ~400 MB/hour 24/7 recording at low bit rate

Estimated duration per plan

Plan Alarms
(30s each)
Live HD Live SD Mixed use*
1 GB ~40 ~1.5 h ~4 h ~15 days
3 GB ~120 ~5 h ~12 h ~1 month
5 GB ~200 ~8 h ~20 h ~1.5 months
10 GB ~400 ~16 h ~40 h ~3 months
20 GB ~800 ~33 h ~80 h ~6 months

*Mixed use: standby + 5 daily alarms + 5 min of live SD video per day. Estimated values with H.265 at 4 MP; actual consumption varies depending on scene complexity and signal quality.

Where to install it
