Description
A stabilizer or anti-torsion arm, as it is also known, is an element designed to support the tower at a specific height to prevent movement caused by strong wind currents.
Unlike a guy wire bracket (which attaches at one point per face of the tower), a stabilizer attaches at two points per face; that is, there are 6 attachment points at the same height, which prevents excessive torsion in the tower and provides better structural rigidity.
Installation Conditions
A stabilizer is not a mandatory piece in the assembly of a typical tower. Generally, a stabilizer is installed when:
- There is an antenna with a large surface area (equal to or greater than 1m in diameter).
- When there are wind concentrations due to the terrain or conditions of the area.
- In high-precision wireless links.
Likewise, it is recommended to replace the installation of a guy wire bracket when adding a stabilizer, as we must remember that the more cables we add to the tower, the heavier it will be and the more load we will be placing on the ground.
