A stabilizer or anti-torsion arm, as it is also known, is an element designed to secure the tower at a specific height to prevent movement caused by strong wind currents.
Unlike a guy wire bracket (which is attached at one point on each side of the tower), a stabilizer is attached at two points per side; that is, there are 6 attachment points at the same height, which prevents excessive torsion in the tower and provides better structural rigidity.
Installation Conditions
When is a stabilizer installed?
- When there is an antenna with a large surface area (equal to or greater than 1m in diameter)
- When there are wind concentrations due to the terrain or conditions of the area
- In high-precision wireless links
It is recommended to replace a guy wire bracket installation when adding a stabilizer, as we must remember that the more cables we add to the tower, the heavier it will be and the more load we will be placing on the ground.
