The SK-NIC network interface card is used with Honeywell's Silent Knight 6000 and Farenhyt Black series fire alarm control panels. It allows the panels to be networked together for various functions: The SK-NIC comes with connections for unshielded twisted pair copper wire. Optional fiber optic modules can be added for network connectivity.
These modules can be the SK-FML multi-mode fiber optic module and the SK-FSL single-mode fiber optic module. Using the SK-NIC with the SK-FML and SK-FSL enables an annunciation communication path for up to 17 panels for the Silent Knight 6000 series, but not a point-to-point network connection. It also enables a full point-to-point network for up to 32 panels for the Farenhyt Black series.
A designated panel is configured as a communicator for all connected panels to provide a single convenient point for the Silent Knight 6000 series, while multiple panels can communicate for the Farenhyt Black series. The entire network connection can also be achieved via fiber optics.
